I was mystified by sizes posted on Amazon, and online search for Gottex one-piece suits yielded conflicting results as to how the 38, 40, 42, etc. translate into the American sizes. So I purchased 38, 40, and 42 to figure out what I'm dealing with. 38 is a 6, 40 is an 8, and 42 is a 10, please see photos of tags for evidence. In my opinion, even those 6, 8, and 10 run small. I wear 8 in swimming suits and this 10 fits like others fit in 8, if not tighter. In the process of reading Gottex one-pieces swimsuits' reviews on different sites, I discovered some customers' comments that good bathing suits should fit tight dry so that they don't sag when wet. Well, these fit *tight*. The fabric is sturdier (less stretchy) than fabrics from other brands and I believe the sizes do truly run small, even taking into consideration--possibly by design--the tight fit. Last photos show all suits stacked up for comparison with tape measure for approximation. And the suit is beautiful. (For those interested in the result of my online search, the mysterious sizes here on Amazon match the sizing of Gottex one-pieces on Saks Fifth Avenue website as of this writing.)Fits perfectly, many complements!
